
REPORT
If you have been threatened or chased, but without injuries:
In case of shepherd dogs or dogs with an identifiable owner
In the case of shepherd dogs or dogs with an identifiable owner, report the incident to the territorially competent police station, directly at the station, by phone, or through a petition, including online, on the territorial County Police Inspectorate website.
The report must contain at least the date and time of the incident, the most exact location possible, a description of the dogs’ behavior, the existence of a possible owner, sheepfold, household, identifiable person, and any photographs or videos. The analysis must identify the human factor: negligence, lack of supervision, improper conditions.
The police must:
identify the owner;
verify compliance with GEO 55/2002;
apply sanctions;
order control measures by classifying the dog/dogs as “aggressive,” if applicable;
order clear restrictions for isolation and assessment in the case of dogs classified as “aggressive” and dangerous dogs;
monitor these cases.
In the case of community dogs
In the case of community dogs, notify the town hall of the locality where the incident occurred or the local police, where such a structure exists.
The town hall must:
capture the dog through an authorized service;
ensure behavioral assessment of the dog by a veterinary behaviorist;
shelter the animal according to the law.
