For all of the hikers, safety on the trail is our main priority!
Everyone who sets out must be safe. However, the trail crosses a diverse natural and rural landscape over a distance of 1,600 kilometers. Much like the initiatory road in fairy tales, when someone sets out on the trail, they may encounter a series of natural dangers and a few national challenges that we must all be aware of. The route preserves its authenticity, with everything that entails.
That is precisely why, beyond planning and infrastructure development, situations specific to the natural environment or local context may arise.
We can address them ahead of time through prevention, information, and constant attention to the way hikers prepare for and walk the trail. In essence, safety does not mean removing nature from the equation, but learning to travel through it responsibly, with respect and with an understanding of the weather, the terrain, and the area we are in.
Our team, together with specialists from several fields, such as ethology, long-distance tourism, authorities and other organizations is working on developing good-practice guides. Better safe than sorry!
Therefore, we aim to inform and prepare those who wish to set out on a hike, because prevention can make the difference between fear and real danger, or a positive and responsible experience on the trail.
